The Foot & Leg Elevator is designed for both comfort and support.  The patent pending, sculptured channeled position canals, allows resting of the lower extremity while awake or sleeping.  Unlike traditional supporting products, the Foot and Leg Elevator is Dynamic, allowing freedom of movement, without the constraints of being immobile.  This is important because being able to move the legs, increases circulation, while relieving muscle and tendon fatigue, allowing muscular activity to pump blood back towards the heart.

Elevating Feet & Legs is Good for Your  Health

Elevating your legs for 30 to 60 minutes a day , can improve the health and wellness of Veins and the Circulatory System.  Leg elevation can relieve the symptoms associated with varicose veins and swelling of the lower extremity. Elevating the legs can also help in prevention of developing DVT’s ( deep vein thrombosis ), a common and dangerous blood clot that can travel to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism.

Post Surgical Device

The Foot and Leg Elevator can be used post surgically in those individuals that require stable elevation and control of excessive internal and external rotation, as seen in post knee replacement, ankle injury, and/or foot/leg fracture.  Elevating the legs reduces swelling and decreases pain to the injured area.  The sculptured channel within the device will keep the legs aligned, while awake or sleeping, preventing injury from tossing and turning.

Elevating Legs Reduces Lower Back Pain

Sleeping on your back with the Legs and Knees raised takes the pressure off the lower spine by counter rotating the pelvis.  As the Pelvis rotates, in a higher position, pressure is taken off the lower back, reducing pain and discomfort.

Elevating the Legs Relieves tension in the Legs, Feet, and Hips  Resulting in Decreased Back Pain

4 out of 5 people will experience back pain at some point in their life time.  Not only is it distracting and uncomfortable, but can cause life style changes, affecting everyday daily tasks.   There are many different causes of back pain.  The most common causes of back pain are a result from sciatica, arthritis, sprains & strains, skeletal abnormalities, and ruptured discs.  However, most of the back pain reported is nonspecific where there is no one identifiable cause of the pain.  Changing Sleep position has been found to affect back pain.  Lying flat on the Back can cause unnecessary pressure on the spine. The spine is not naturally straight, but is curved in multiple areas. When you sleep and rest with the legs elevated, it enables the spine to be aligned in a more natural position.  Thus, reducing pressure on the spine, and decreasing pack pain and discomfort.

What are the Disadvantages of using Pillows to elevate Legs

Certain pillows may not offer the support needed to keep the legs elevated without bottoming out.  The Foot & Leg Elevator is made of medical grade Polyurethane Foam, which will not bottom out under pressure, and is far superior to using pillows.  When you sleep with pillows, they may slip out of place, or the leg may roll off while changing sleeping positions. Because the Foot & Leg Elevator has a sculptured channel area for the legs, the legs are prevented from hitting one another, keeping them elevated and  in  proper alignment.

Elevating Legs with Gout

Gout is a type of arthritis caused by a buildup of uric acid in the joints, most commonly seen in the Foot ( 1st MPJ ) .  The buildup of these uric acid crystals in the joint causes severe pain, inflammation, and immobility.  While anti-gout medicines are readily available, elevation of the legs and feet can drastically reduce the pain and discomfort associated with a gouty attack.  Elevating the feet and legs aides in reducing the inflammation of the gouty joint, by increasing localized circulation, flushing out the toxic waste.
